Denise Forsythe

Denise Gerardine Marie (Delva) Forsythe age 80 of Owosso, passed away on Sunday, January 06, 2008, at her home.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, Michigan. Rev. Norman Beckwith Sr. will officiate and burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Owosso. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 6-8 P.M.

Denise was the daughter of Julien Francois Joseph Jean Louis & Yvonne Adele Louise (Magis) Delva; she was born in Liege, Belgium on May 25, 1927. Denise immigrated to the United States on December 15, 1955 and married Edward L. Forsythe on June 16, 1956 at Pittsburg United Methodist Church. Ed was the son of George L. & Ivah L (Brockway) Forsythe and he met Denise while serving in the military in Belgium. Ed was born August 9, 1931 and predeceased Denise on July 26, 1995 in Owosso, Michigan. Denise worked as a waitress at the Owosso City Club, and the Owosso Country Club while raising three active children. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Owosso and her hobbies included artistic painting, gardening, crafts and knitting. Denise was very well read and was interested in religion, ancient Egypt, and enjoyed science fictions movies.

Survivors include her son James L. & Mary Jo Forsythe of Owosso, MI, daughters; Suzanne M. & James Jersild of Janesville, WI, and Cassandra M. & Howard Pense of Roy, WA. 1 sister Suzanne Marie Josephine Mairlot of Belgium, grandchildren; Andy & Adam Anderson, James, Christopher, Brian and Austin Pense, Becky, Adam, and Jeremy Jersild, and a niece Jacqueline Horion of Belgium.

Memorial contributions are suggested to, Hospice of Shiawassee County 1488 N. M-52, Owosso, Michigan or Shiawassee Council on Aging, 300 North Washington Street, Owosso, Michigan. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, MI.
