Dennis Greer

Dennis Ray Greer, age 81, of North Star, MI passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016 in the arms of his loving wife and surrounded by his family.

Dennis was born in North Star, Michigan on May 10, 1934, the son of Joseph and Elsie (Perdue) Greer.  Dennis resided all of his life in North Star and was a graduate of Ithaca High School.  Dennis married Beverley Billings on July 22, 1955 in North Star.

Dennis was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his time spent in the woods and on the lake.  He loved sports and played football in high school.  His hobbies included bowling, golfing and camping.  Dennis enjoyed attending Ithaca Yellowjacket sporting events and following the football and basketball teams.    Dennis was a craftsman who worked with his hands and could create beautiful works of art out of metal, wood and cloth.  He was a talented welder and woodworker.  He also enjoyed the time spent making quilts with his wife, Beverley.  Spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him much joy.  No family gathering was complete without his famous homemade ice cream.

He is survived by his wife Beverley Greer of North Star, MI, daughter Denise Gross of Scottsdale, AZ, son Larry and Sherri Greer of Edmore, MI, daughter Terri and Byron Reeves of Ithaca, MI, 12 grandchildren; Nicholas and Angie Gross, Jerri and Mark Frederick, Terri Gross & Michael Leitz, Angie Greer, Tracy and Dustin Coulter, April and Mike Verbeke, Toni and Corey Ives, Christine Willis, Erik and Jennica Miel, Bethany and Phil Fletcher, Grant Reeves & Nikki Deel, Emily Reeves, 19 great grandchildren, brother Joe and Bea Greer of Traverse City, MI, sister Mary Moubray of Dimondale, MI, brother Rocky and Daria Greer of Ithaca, MI.  Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, brother Francis and Berdina Greer, sister Mona and Harry Hersey, sister Mollie and Dick Bresbois, brother-in-law Dick Moubray.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Randy Hersey officiating.  Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
