Dennis Whitney

Dennis Lee Whitney, age 60, of Ovid, MI, passed away Monday, November 23, 2020, at his home surrounded by his family.

In following Dennis' wishes, cremation has taken place and a Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, MI.

Dennis was born in Alpena, MI, on July 12, 1960, the son of Vernon E. and Helen M. (Wenz) Whitney. He graduated from Alpena High School with the class of 1978.  On September 5, 1993, Dennis married Darcy Jane Rockershousen in Cedar, MI.

Dennis was a hard worker.  He was an orthotic and prosthetic technician for over 20 years. Later he was an over the road semi-truck driver.  Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.  He liked traveling and making special memories with his family. His favorite times were the trips to Costa Rica and Alaska. Most of all, Dennis loved his family and always looked forward to spending time with his daughters and grandson.

Dennis is survived by his wife Darcy, 2 daughters: Carrie (Bradley) Pinckney of Lansing and Donna (Tyler) Henige of New Lothrop; and grandson Brayden Henige.  He is also survived by his siblings: Steve (Lisa) Whitney, Marty Whitney, and Kathi (Jim) Cubilo.  Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 siblings: Edward Whitney and Sharon Skiba.
