Dexter Glenn "Dec" Hughson, age 90, of Elsie, Michigan died Friday, April 22, 2011 at Ovid Healthcare Center, Ovid, MI.

A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel, Elsie, MI on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Chuck Emmert officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.

Dexter was born in Gladwin, Michigan on December 26, 1920, the son of Ray and Elgie (Wright) Hughson. Dec married Joyce B. Davis on September 2, 1956. Dec was a lifelong farmer. He loved spending time with his grandsons and he also enjoyed all animals, especially his dogs. Dec was a welder and worked in various factories. He lived in the Elsie area most of his life and was a member of the Duplain Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Hughson of Elsie, MI, daughter April (Dennis Wortman) Kersjes of Gould City, MI, son Dexter Lynn Hughson of Atlanta, GA, 2 grandsons; Benjamin and Lee Ann Hughson of Elsie, MI, and Jacob (Becky Eavy) Turner of Hubbardston, MI, 8 great grandchildren; Samuel Hughson, Alicia Brisboy, Eric Brisboy, Dustin Waite, Wyatt Turner, Daniel Turner, Taylor Turner, and Erica Eavy, sister Grace Meyers of Ovid, 2 brothers; Raymond Hughson of Williamston, MI, and Lester and Nelva Hughson of Lennon, MI, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dec was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Hiller, two brothers-in-law; George Meyers and Allen Hiller and one sister in law, Adaline Hughson.
