Domingo "Don" A. Fabela age 79 of Alma, MI died Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at St. Mary's Hospital Saginaw, MI.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Mount St. Joseph Catholic Church St. Louis, MI. Deacon John Cremin will officiate with burial at Riverside Cemetery Alma, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2005 from 6-8 P.M. and Friday, June 3, 2005 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. A prayer service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2005 at 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Don was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 20, 1925 the son of Anestacio and Candelaria ( Aleman ) Fabela. He was born in Texas and moved to Michigan in his childhood. He then resided in Elwell and Alma, Michigan, and attended Breckenridge West Elementary School. Don married Patrosinia Benavidez in San Antoino, Texas on September 26, 1944. She passed away October 19, 1996. He sold cars for Ansel-Jones Car Sales in Alma and also bartended for PineKnot Bar & Quips Bar in Alma, MI. He worked as a mason for many years and at Stedman Construction in Bay City, MI. His last job was custodian of the St. Louis Senior Center. He was an excellent pool player, liked to play cards, travel, and listen to music. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He liked to do carpentry work and was quite the handyman. He also loved to do lawn work. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alma, MI a member of the Moose Lodge #1566 and volunteered with the United Way and the American Cancer Society.
Survivors include his children; Domingo B. Fabela Jr. of Alma, MI, Thelma & Marvin Leonhardt of Riverton, WY, Delia "Norma" & Raul Garza of St. Louis, MI, Doris C. & Baldo Esquivel of Breckenridge, MI, Delfida B. Fabela of Wheeler, MI, Diana D. Garza & Jose Gonzalaz of Alma, MI, David R. & Rita Fabela of Ithaca, MI, 24 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 sister Angelita Tripp of Alma, MI. He was predeceased by his parents, wife, daughter Delfina Fabela, and 3 brothers Estanislado, Ramon & Silbiano.
