Donald Charles Chase, age 88, of Owosso, MI passed away Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Durand Senior Care & Rehab Center, Durand, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Chaplain Beverly Adcock will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Owosso Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Monday January 4, 2010 from 6-8 PM. and will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 2-8 PM with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI.

Donald was born in New Lothrop, Michigan on September 22, 1921, the son of George and Annie (Herrick) Chase. He married June Bennett on June 15, 1951 in Angola Indiana. She passed away July 4, 1990. Donald resided most of his life in New Lothrop and Owosso.

He served in the National Guard in Lansing. Later served in the U.S. Army in Europe during WW II. Don was a Supply Sergeant in the "Battle of the Bulge" in Belgium France and Germany. He lived in Paris, France for a year after the war. Don was a life member of the New Lothrop Masonic Lodge #381, past member of the Scottish Rites Bay City Council, life member of New Lothrop VFW, member of the Harrison moose Lodge #2235, Owosso Eagles #851 and the National Rifle Association. Don was also a member of the Owosso Wesleyan Church serving on the Senior Fellowship Group. Don worked for Motor Wheel in Lansing, later employed by General Motors Service parts Operation in Swartz Creek. He was a member of management and retired in 1981 with 36 1/2 years of service. Don was an avid camper, hunter, fisherman and enjoyed playing cards.

Donald is survived by 2 sons Mark and Terri Chase of Flushing, MI, David and Sharon Chase of Macomb Township, MI; 4 grandchildren Kori and Tom Yeager of Owosso, Dylan Chase of Flushing, MI, Nicholas and Andrew Chase both of Macomb Township, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and sister Edna Miller.
