Donald Eugene "Gene" Stauffer, age 82, of Vestaburg, Michigan passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at his home.
A Memorial Service will be held at Vestaburg High School Commons on July 20, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. with Minister Greg Stauffer officiating.
Donald was born in Lansing, Michigan on September 15, 1929, the son of Harold Royce and Dorothy Marie (Brundage) Stauffer.
Gene and Irene Elaine VanNortwick were married at the Vestaburg Church of Christ on May 22, 1952. Gene graduated from Vestaburg High School.
Gene was involved in many activities and organizations including the Richland Township Fire Department of Vestaburg, a Board Member for Vestaburg Schools and he belonged to the Masons. Gene was also on the board for NEMAC for Vestaburg. Gene also was a woodworking 4-H leader. He served as a Deacon and Trustee for Vestaburg Church of Christ where he was also a member and a youth leader. For many years he drove his completely restored 1924 Model T for the Grand Marshalls and the Old Timers Day Queen. He enjoyed 4-Wheeling up north and planning his garden all winter long, and planting it in the spring. Gene loved his family and they were most important to him. Gene served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife Irene Stauffer of Vestaburg, MI, daughter Cheryl Graves of Vestaburg, MI, daughter Donna and David Little of Cass City, MI, son James and Kathy Stauffer of Clarkston, MI, daughter Elaine Stauffer of Vestaburg, MI, grandchildren; Bill and Julie Little, Cory and Mark Hofland, Michael Stauffer, Matt and Jamie Little, Mike Wing, Garrett Stauffer, Micah and Jessica Little, Rikki Stauffer, Joe Wing and Crystle and Greg McCall. He is also survived by his great grandchildren; Ali Little, Kendra & Isaiah Hofland, Lillianne Little, Alexis & Andrea Wing, Adriann Stauffer, Rhylee McCall, Jackson Little, Alasia & Maverick Little. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, son in law Timothy Graves, grandson Joshua Stauffer, brother Keith Stauffer, sister in law Alberta Stauffer and nephew Richard Stauffer.
