Donald Bryan Tree age 73, of St. Louis, MI, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017, at Masonic Pathways, Alma, MI surrounded by his 3 daughters.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis, MI, on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Dan Siedlecki officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Donald was born in St. Louis, MI on March 2, 1944, the son of Robert Tree and Ruth (Vaughn) Travis. He graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1962. Don went on to attend Northwood University where he received his associates in business. After receiving his associate’s degree he moved to the San Francisco and the Redwood City areas in California where he was a musician. He moved back to Michigan in 1971 and attended Central Michigan University where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1977 in Music and Masters in experimental Psychology. He was a member of Central Michigan Christian Church, Mt. Pleasant, MI.
Don was the secretary and treasurer of the 14-1 Gratiot County Men's Pool League for 22 years. He played the guitar, six string Fender bass, composed and performed in the central Michigan area for 45 years. Don spent 20 years driving for the Amish Community in the Rosebush and Clare areas. He was an avid Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers and Michigan State fan. He was a true friend to many people in this area. Spending time with his 3 daughters and grandchildren brought him much joy.
He is survived by his daughters; Cheyenna Tree of Farwell, MI, Quana and Scott Hoffman of Mt. Pleasant, MI, Maya Tree of Shepherd, MI, 8 grandchildren; Dylan, Ariel, Taylor, Frank, Logan, Aidan, Levi, Elliot, 2 great granddaughters; Ava and Avianna, siblings; Nonnie Tree of Alma, MI, Sandra and William Matthews of Bloomington, IN, Vauna and Jerry Glisson of Williamston, MI, Alta and Richard Wojtowicz of Harbor Springs, MI, and he is also survived many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother of his children, Mona Tree, and brother Norman Tree.
