Donald Eugene "Papa" Wolfe, age 62, of St. Louis, MI died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Gratiot Medical Center in Alma, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis Chapel on Friday, October 2, 2009 at 1:00 P.M., Chaplain John Dorris will officiate. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, and also on Friday for one hour prior to services.
Don was born in Brookville, Pennsylvania on December 13, 1946, the son of Paul Boyd and Betty Elaine (Smith) Wolfe. He graduated from Punxsutawney High School. Don married Laura Kay Bennett on March 4, 1972. He had resided in St. Louis since 1970. Don was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the US Navy as a Seabee, and the US Army Reserve. He has been employed at the St. Louis Correctional Facility since 1998. Don was an avid hunter, fisherman, sports fan, and loved spoiling his grandkids. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post # 3055, and the NRA.
He is survived by his wife Laura Wolfe of St. Louis, MI, 2 daughters; Linda and Kyle Westphal of Cedar Springs, MI, Heather and Jason Fachting of Wheeler, MI, 4 grandchildren; Kaleb and Bethany Westphal of Cedar Springs, MI, Brandon and Zachary Fachting of Wheeler, MI, mother Betty Wolfe of North Carolina, sister Shirley and Doug Salsgiver of North Carolina, sister in law Lora Wolfe of Vestaburg, MI, brother Jerry and Cindy Hoch of Pennsylvania, sister Judy Groom of Pennsylvania, brother Butch Wolfe, and sister Jean Wolfe. He was preceded in death by his father Paul, stepfather Louis Cerra, granddaughter Abigail Fachting and brother Mike.
