Donald "Don" Mecomber Sr.

Donald James "Don" Mecomber Sr. age 89 of Alma, MI, passed away Friday, October 13, 2017 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center - Gratiot, Alma, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis, MI, St. Louis, MI, on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 2:00 P.M., with Pastor Clarence Smith officiating.  Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Donald was born in Bethany Township, MI on August 16, 1928, the son of Leland L'Roy and Ethel Mae (Carrill) Mecomber.  He married Iris Elaine Ingersoll on September 20, 1948.  Donald resided most of his life in Gratiot County.  Don was a talented carpenter and he loved to travel after retirement.  He enjoyed western movies and reading Louis L'Amour books.

He is survived by his wife Iris Mecomber of Alma, MI, son Timothy and Janet Mecomber of Las Vegas, NV, son Thomas and Deborah Mecomber of Bakersfield, CA, daughter Sandra and Raymond Baur of Breckenridge, MI, son Daniel and Kathleen Mecomber of Gaylord, MI, daughter Cynthia Mecomber and Melvin Seward of Midland, MI, 14 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and brother Robert Mecomber of Riverdale, MI.  Don was preceded in death by his parents, 2 children; Donald James Mecomber Jr. and Rebecca Jean Mecomber and 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
