Donna Jean (Wieber) Fruchey

     Donna Jean Fruchey, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at the age of 68. 

     A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI, on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 3:00 P.M., with Pastor Mona Kindel officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 6-8 P.M. and on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.

     Born in St. Johns, MI on April 20, 1955, Donna was the daughter of Arnold L. and Lolamae (Emery) Wieber. She graduated from Ovid-Elsie High School with the Class of 1973, and later graduated from Central Michigan University. She was a dedicated teacher for many years at E.E. Knight Elementary School and Leonard Elementary.  

     Donna found solace and joy by the water, and her favorite place to be was by the river with her family and friends in her beautiful backyard. She developed a talent for beading in retirement and made beautiful earrings. When she wasn't beading and working on other crafts, she could be found outside working in her gardens, enjoying nature.

     Above all, Donna cherished her role as a mother and grandma. She brought joy and laughter into the lives of her loved ones and leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that touched the lives of many.

     She is survived by her children: Benjamin and Carrie Fruchey of Fowlerville, MI; Matthew Fruchey of Royal Oak, MI; Kathryn Fruchey and Michael Carreira of Owosso, MI; significant other Steven McGinnis of Owosso, MI; Steven's children: Daniel and Misty McGinnis of Ovid, MI; Blayne McGinnis of St. Johns, MI; grandchildren: Grant Fruchey, Neal Fruchey, Dillan McGinnis, and Kylie McGinnis; brothers: Duane and Brenda Wieber of Pentwater, MI; Raymond and Allane Wieber of Ovid, MI.  Donna is also survived by many nieces, nephews, special friends and loved ones. Donna was preceded in death by her parents, and her granddaughter Paige McGinnis..
