Donna Koval

Donna Isabell Koval, 94, of Alma, MI, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center, Midland, MI.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Nativity of the Lord Parish, Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Louis, MI, on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Jim Carlson officiating. Burial will take place at Chapel Garden Cemetery, Elwell, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2020 from 5-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI with a Vigil Service at 7:30 P.M.

Donna was born in Rosebush, MI on July 4, 1926, the daughter of Edwin and Pearl (Raymond) Burr. Donna married Steve L. Koval on December 30, 1948 in Mt. Pleasant, MI.  They were blessed with nearly 60 years of marriage before Steve passed away on August 12, 2008. Together they resided in Alma, MI.

Donna was a housekeeper at the Masonic Home and Schnepp's Nursing Home for many years. She also worked at the Box Factory in Alma. In her younger years, Donna worked at A & W in Mt. Pleasant and as a teenager she delivered Western Union telegrams on bicycle.

Donna loved traveling with her husband and sons. As a family, they visited all 50 states. She enjoyed riding motorcycles and snowmobiles, and fishing. Donna liked tending her flowers and gardening.  Donna loved her family and taking care of them. She was a good wife and mother.

Donna is survived by her son Dennis Koval of Alma, and many nieces and nephews.  Donna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Steve in 2008, son Matthew in 2005, 3 sisters: Dorothy Cook, Opal Lent and Erma Mallory; and 2 brothers: Raymond Burr and Franklin Burr.
