Donna Lockwood

Donna Marie Lockwood, age 82, of Elsie, MI, passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Ashley Care Center, Ashley, Michigan.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI, at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, June 7, 2021, with Denny Baese officiating.  A private burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, MI. Visitation will be held Monday at noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Donna was born in Owosso, Michigan on October 5, 1938, the daughter of Ralph H. and Leota D. (Smith) Long.  She attended Ashley Public Schools and Baker College where she was on the Dean's List.  On April 1, 1954 Donna married Lowell Vayne Lockwood in St. Johns, MI. They celebrated 67 years of marriage this year.

Donna was a talented artist and enjoyed painting.  She liked to play Canasta with her girls.  Donna was always on the go.  She and Lowell enjoyed spending their winters in Florida and summers in Harrison for many years.  She loved being with her sisters shopping, traveling, and just being together.  She also coached her girls' softball teams.  Donna loved to dance and spend time with her family.

Donna is survived by her husband Lowell, and 5 children: Vanessa (Bill) Cutter of Elsie, MI; David (Susie) Lockwood of Ft. Wayne, IN; Tanya (Randee) Rewerts of St. Johns, MI; Tamara (Chad Crippen) Mannon of Saginaw, MI; and Heather (Stan) Bond of Dwight, IL.  She is also survived by 13 grandchildren: Jason Lockwood, Kevin Lockwood, Lisa (Paul) Phillips, Jeremy (Dawn) Ackels, Mitchell Lockwood, Madelyn (Cory) Borders, Tara (Josh) Rose, Ethan Fair, Collin Rewerts, Andrea (Will Allen) Lockwood, Kaleb (Kathleen) Taylor, Rylie Bond, and Olivia Bond; 13 great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, brother Gareld Long, sister Connie (Jerry) Blount, and many nieces and nephews.    Donna was preceded in death by her parents, son Ralph Lockwood, infant grandson Ryan Taylor, siblings: infant sister Linda Sue, Cleta Strieff, Reuben (Onnie) Olsen, Gerald Long, and Marilyn Goldman; and sister-in-law Aleene Long.
