Donovan Earnest "Don" Huguelet, age 89, of Elsie, MI passed away Friday, August 24, 2012 at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, MI.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 11:30 A.M. at the First Baptist Church of Elsie with Reverend Ralph Parkin officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service.
Donovan was born in Clinton County, Michigan on July 14, 1923, the son of Vernon and Bessie (Stampfly) Huguelet. He graduated from Eastern High School with the class of 1941. Don married Mary Jean (Davis) Huguelet on November 13, 1958. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a car salesman for 25 years, retiring from Ovid-Elsie Schools where he worked as a custodian. Don belonged to the First Baptist Church of Elsie and attended regularly. He was an avid gardener and reader. Don and Mary Jean spent 13 winters in Fort Pierce, Florida, where he loved to go fishing. Don enjoyed his daily golf cart rides in town. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jean Huguelet of Elsie, MI, children; Deborah and Ted Schulz of Bannister, MI, Wendy Frye of Elsie, MI, Karla and Ed Bancroft of Ovid, MI, Perry and Patti Munson of Elsie, MI, Lee and Rosemary Huguelet of St. Johns, MI, Michelle and Gary Helmer of St. Johns, MI, 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, 1 brother, and 1 great-granddaughter Trinity.
