Doris "LaVerne" Mason, age 63, of Corunna, MI passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Genesys Hospital, Grand Blanc, MI.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Corunna United Methodist Church, Corunna, Michigan on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. David R. Strobe officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-2 P.M. prior to the service.
Doris LaVerne was born in Slaton, Texas on December 28, 1948, the daughter of Weaver Edward Peterson and Lorene (Hobbs) Swindell. Doris resided most of her life in Texas & Corunna. LaVerne married J.D. Mason on September 23, 1988 in Corunna, MI.
LaVerne love to fish, especially for perch. Her wish was to see the glaciers in Alaska which she did 3 years ago. LaVerne's grandchildren were the joy of her life. She was also a hockey fan and loved to go to the casino and Red Lobster.
She is survived by her husband J.D. Mason of Corunna, MI, daughter Shelly Losasso of Flint, MI, son Johnny Fowler of Watauga, TX, son Kevin Fowler, daughter Jolene and Bob Brenner of Owosso, MI, daughter-in-law Melissa and Marty Ball of Corunna, MI, 8 grandchildren; Christopher Losasso, Lyndsey, Megan & Courtney Fowler, Harlee & Tyler Brenner, Breahnna Fowler, and Elizabeth, sister Margaret and Jerry Wheelis of San Antonio, TX, brother Billy and Betty Peterson of Terrell, TX, sister Shirley and Michael Vaughn of Terrell, TX, sisters-in-law; Linda Mason, Kathy and Tom Runyon, Beverly and Charlie Nelson, and several nieces and nephews in Michigan & Texas. LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents and her son Shawn Fowler.
