Dorotha was born in Breckenridge, MI on June 7, 1932, the daughter of Shirley Lee and Leona Mae (Leonard) Kaufman. She graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1949. She resided most of her life in the St. Louis Area.
On May 7, 1950, Dorotha married James Robert Gruenberg at the First Baptist Church, St. Louis, MI. Bob preceded her in death on November 5, 1982 after 32 years of marriage. Together they attended the First Baptist Church, St. Louis, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.
Dorotha loved spending time with her family. Facetime became very important to her especially during the last couple of years as it was her main connection with her family. She looked forward to daily Facetime visits with her sister Donna. She enjoyed watching baseball games, Lifetime movies, playing bingo and lemon ice cream from the Frosty Cone. Dorotha's faith was very important to her. Even in the last few years when she was unable to attend in person, she faithfully watched church services, read her Bible and prayed for her family daily.
Dorotha and her husband, Bob, owned and operated the first A&W in mid Michigan for over 30 years. Later in life, she worked at Walmart for over 20 years and loved her Walmart family. She was especially proud of her 20 year pin and her "lifetime discount".
Dorotha is survived by her children: David (Kim Eisenbeis) Gruenberg of Grand Blanc, Debra (Jim) Kolar of Castle Rock, CO, and Michael (Janelle) Gruenberg of St. Louis; 6 grandchildren: Heather (Scott), Jason (Sarah), Christa (Jeremy), Kassi, Macy, and McKayla; and 4 great grandchildren: Olivia, Ethan, Alayna, and Adam. She is also survived by her sister Donna Slagel of Jupiter, FL and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, and brother Richard (Ruth) Kaufman.
