Dorothea Somers

Dorothea Ann Somers, age 75, of Owosso, MI passed away Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Herb Wheelock officiating. Burial will take place at Ford Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 28, 2014 from 2-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Dorothea was born in Owosso, Michigan on August 11, 1939, the daughter of Dale M. and Natalie A. (Jacobs) Gillett. She graduated from Owosso High School with the class of 1957. On August 23, 1958 Dorothea married Allen Judd Somers in Owosso, Michigan and lived near Chapin until 1996 when they moved to Owosso. She worked at Owosso Graphic Arts and retired from Toledo Commutator Co. retiring in 2008 after 30 years of service in the Human Resources Department. Dorothea was a member of Chapin United Methodist Church for 50 years.

She is survived by her husband Allen Somers of Owosso, MI; daughter Kimberly and James McClelland of Ovid, MI; son Kevin and Tracy Somers of Elsie, MI; grandchildren; Janelle Ann McClelland, Mallory Ann McClelland, Addison Ann Somers, step grandsons; Braydon Michael Schaub, Jacob Andrew Schaub, and Kyle P. Bannon, sister in law and brother in law; Richard and Lorna Semans, brother in law Ed Lewandowski, aunt Phyllis Jacobs, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Dale "Doc" Gillett, mother Natalie Gillett Dewey, step father Wallace Dewey, mother and father in law, Judd and Meroe Somers, daughter in law Martha Somers, and sister in law Elaine Lewandowski.
