Dorothy Aileen Kirkey, age 91, of St. Louis, MI. passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Schnepp Health Care Center, St. Louis, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel, St. Louis, MI on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at Chapel Garden Cemetery, Seville Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Dorothy was born in North Star, Michigan on March 20, 1918, the daughter of George and Lois (White) McConkey. Dorothy loved to watch the Tigers and the Piston's. She enjoyed dancing, spending time with her family, and going to all of her children and grandchildren's sporting events. Dorothy resided most of her life in Gratiot County. She was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge#1566 and former member of the Brethren Lutheran Church in Ithaca.
She is survived by her children; Lois Painter of Wheeler, MI, Jerry and Diane Kirkey of Alma, MI, Robert and Betty Kirkey of Mason, MI, Diane and Jay Galehouse of Elm Hall, MI, Danny and Diane Kirkey of Elwell, MI, 27 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Alfred in 1984 and one son Ronald Kirkey in 2002.
