Dorothy Mikus

Dorothy Mikus, age 91, of Kingsley, MI passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11:00 A.M., with Mr. Rick Murgittroyd officiating. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born in Ashley, Michigan on January 14, 1924, the daughter of William and Carrie (Ackels) Shaw. Dorothy married Steve Tony Mikus. Dorothy lived in Kingsley most of her life. She enjoyed walking, gardening, reading books and sewing doll clothes and quilts. Dorothy kept her room in tip top shape and did her fair share of dishes. Dorothy liked going to church and reading her bible. She had a great sense of humor.

She is survived by her son Steve J. Mikus of Ashley, MI; daughter Carrie and Rick Murgittroyd of Holt, MI, grandchildren; Corey and Tina Mikus of Bear Lake, MI, Josh and Sarah Murgittroyd of Mason, MI, and Elizabeth Murgittroyd of Chicago, IL, great grandchildren; Caden, Isaac, Molly, Charlie, Josie and Lily, brother Gerald and Carol Shaw of Ashley, MI, sister Emma Dunevant of St. Johns, MI, sister Evelyn and Richard Parling of Crystal, MI, and brother Grover and Pat Shaw of Ashley, MI. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son John, and son Larry Mikus, siblings; Frank, Joe, Ernest, Richard, Clifford, Olga, Bill and George.
