Dorothy A. Mitchem, age 81, of Owosso, MI passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at her home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Denise Cummings will officiate and burial will take place at Oak Plain Cemetery, Owosso, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI.
Dorothy was born in Perry, Michigan on February 13, 1929, the daughter of Faye and Neva (Loomis) Pelton. Dorothy and Donald were married April 5, 1957 in Ionia, MI. Dorothy was a wonderful wife, loving mother who adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her hard work and loving heart. Dorothy enjoyed painting. Dorothy resided most of her life in Owosso and Perry.
She is survived by her husband Donald Mitchem of Owosso, MI, 3 sons; Randy V. and Judy Church of Canton, MI, James Mitchem of Owosso, MI, David and Lois Mitchem of Owosso, MI, 3 brothers; Faye and Maxine Pelton, Jr. of Lansing, MI, Lonny and Loretta Pelton of Pinconning, MI, Phillip and Maryann Pelton of Standish, MI, 3 sisters; Janie Brown of Newport, IN, Barb and Jerome Salgat of Lennon, MI, and Connie and Steve Bero of Kawkawlin, MI. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; Cynthia and Quentin Mitchell, Teresa and Stephen Alvey, Nicole and Matthew Church, Jamie Mitchem, Nicholas Mitchem, Brandon Mitchem, David Mitchem, Jr., and 5 great-grandchildren; Donovan, Zach, Ben, Sam & Wyatt. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Joann Proudfoot.
