Dorothy Marie Shaffer, age 81, of Alma, MI went to be with her Lord, Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center - Gratiot, Alma, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca Chapel Ithaca, MI on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Bob Norris officiating. Burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. and Friday, January 13, 2012 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca Chapel Ithaca, MI.

Dorothy was born in New Haven Township, Michigan on March 16, 1930, the daughter of Verle and Norma (Keys) Barnes. Dorothy graduated from Fulton High School. She was the loving and faithful wife to Donald for 63 short years. She was a member of Ithaca Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

She was the mother to; Sue and Gary Hoekwater of Shepherd, MI, Pam and Kevin Fraker of Perrinton, MI, and Dave Shaffer of Alma, MI.

Her pink frosted sugar cookies and butterscotch pie were loved by many, especially her grandchildren; Josh and Lisa Shaffer, Joe and Melissa Shaffer, Mindy and Kirk Saxton, Mike Shaffer, Heather and Jamin Reda, Julie and Michael Hunter, Kelly and David Wallace, Luke Fraker, Monica Hoekwater, Allison and Christopher Haley, she is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
