Dorothy Shook

Dorothy E. Shook, age 89, passed away on December 24, 2011 in St. Johns, Michigan. Dorothy was born September 28, 1922 in Maple Rapids, the daughter of Vern and Reba (Underwood) Craig. Dorothy was married to Gilbert C. Ward on June 29, 1941 and after his passing, to Roy D. Shook in May 1970, Roy also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Maple Rapids Congregational Church.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Courter and Barbara (Kenneth) Thelen; son, Donald (Mary Brewbaker) Ward; grandchildren, Andrew and Forrest Courter, Pamela (Patrick) Stump, Kenneth (Jaime) Thelen, Becky (Jack) Miller and Kerri (Chris) Tipps and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Carol Barton and Joyce (Joe) VanSickle; brothers, Gene, Jack, Gaylord and Jim (Shirley) Craig. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Vern and Reba Craig, husbands, Gilbert Ward and Roy D. Shook; her great granddaughters, Jacklynn and Carly Miller and her brother, Clare.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m., Thursday, December 29, 2011, at the Maple Rapids Congregational Christian Church with Pastor Jerry Kissling officiating, burial at Payne Cemetery in Maple Rapids. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns and from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the church. Contributions will be made to a charity of her family's choice. The family is being served by the Osgood Funeral Homes.
