Dorothy Smith

Dorothy Evelyn Smith age 101, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018, at Rosewood Adult Foster Care, Ithaca, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor George Showers, Pastor John Hagerman, and Pastor Mike DeVuyst officiating. Burial will take place at New Haven Township Cemetery, New Haven Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 3:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born in Newark Township, MI on July 19, 1916, the daughter of George and Edith (Drayer) Wermuth. She married Lester Smith on March 14, 1934, in Ithaca, MI; Lester passed away in January of 1990.

Dorothy was a homemaker and helped on the farm. She loved raising flowers and had a great green thumb. Dorothy was an avid Detroit Tigers Baseball fan and loved to play cards, especially euchre. Dorothy was a wonderful cook and enjoyed having her family and grandchildren over for meals; especially on holidays. She attended New Haven Church of God for many years.

She is survived by son Donald Smith of Ithaca, MI, daughter Linda and William DeVuyst of Ithaca, MI, 5 grandchildren: Mark and Cherie Smith of St. Johns, MI; Elaine and Dave Kooy of Caledonia, MI; Michael Smith of Ithaca, MI; Jeff and Julie Smith of Ithaca, MI; and Mike and Dori DeVuyst of Flushing, MI. She is also survived by 15 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter in law Nancy Lou Smith, and 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

The family wants to thank McVeigh's T.L.C and Myra and staff at Rosewood for the wonderful care that was given to mother.
