Douglas Edward Strachota Sr, age 43, of Owosso, Michigan, died Saturday, May 22, 2010 at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, Michigan on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 3:00 P.M., Pastor John Walworth will officiate.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 from 1:00 P.M. to time of service at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, Michigan.

Doug was born in St. Johns, Michigan on May 7, 1967, the son of David Strachota Sr. and Carol (Fornusek) Snyder. He graduated from Corunna High School with the class of 1985. He was a sales manager at the Power House Gym in Ypsilanti and he also was at the Owosso location. Doug enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and playing basketball. He was a weightlifter and competed in several competitions.

He is survived by his daughter Kaylee Strachota, at home, life companion and mother of his daughter Alisha Ann Laverty of Owosso, mother Carol and John Snyder of Owosso, father Dave Strachota Sr. of Henderson, 2 sisters; Teresa and Aaron Eldred of Grand Ledge, Lauren and Jeff Hough of Howell, brother David Strachota of Gaines, nephews Nicholas, Wesley, Joshua and Riley, and grandparents Jerry and Martha Strachota of Owosso, special friend Jerrie Stewart of Owosso. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Eddy & Alice Fornusek, John & Louise Snyder, cousin, Karen Marie Fornusek.

Memorials may be made to Kaylee Strachota Trust Fund. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, Michigan.
