Harold Kenneth "Pete" Poff age 86, of Ashley, MI, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2018, at his home.
A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Harold was born in Enola, PA on December 30, 1931, the son of Harry Lee and Bertha Anna (Light) Poff. He graduated from Enola High School with the class of 1949 in Enola, PA. Harold married his high school sweetheart Lois Myers on April 20, 1952, in Biloxi, MS. He went on to attend Shippensburg State Teachers College, in Shippensburg, PA, and then Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, MO graduating in 1966.
Dr. Poff served the Ashley and Elsie communities for 50 years. He was affiliated with Carson City Hospital where he also served his internship. Pete enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, flying and woodworking. Time spent with his family and friends was very special to him. He was proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He proudly served his country in the United States Airforce and was a member of the American Legion in Carson City.
He is survived by wife Lois Poff of Ashley, MI; children: Cynthia Butler of Madison, NC; Douglas and Nancy Poff of St. Johns, MI; Mark and Tammy Poff of Tucson, AZ. He is also survived by grandchildren: David and Erin; Danny and Abbey; Matt and Monica; Nick and Vanessa; Casey and Karolynn; and Joey and Kristie Poff; Jenny and Brad Pruett; and Ashley Milhizer; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Sarah, Violet, Helen, and Ruth, brother Harry Jr. and son-in-law Shirley Butler
