Duane Mussell

Duane Edward Mussell age 83 of Pewamo, MI, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018, at Hazel I. Findlay Country Manor, St. Johns, MI.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fowler, MI on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 10:30 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Dennis Howard officiating.  Burial will take place at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fowler, MI.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Goerge Chapel, Fowler, MI. A Rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 7:00 P.M.

Duane was born in Farwell, MI on March 12, 1935, the son of David Edward and Mary Lucille (Dickerson) Mussell.  Duane married Diane Theis on October 19, 1985 in Fowler.

Duane was an avid MSU and Fowler sports fan.  He enjoyed hunting, camping and gardening.  Spending time with his family was very important to him.  Duane retired from General Motors. He was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church Fowler, MI, and resided most of his life in Fowler.

He is survived by  his wife Diane Mussell, of Pewamo, MI; daughter Lorie and George Dowler of Springport, MI; son Randy Mussell and Deanna Zdunic of Holt, MI; daughter Melissa Zimmerman of Holt, MI; step-son Randy and Heather Theis of Fowler, MI; step-son Chad Theis of Denver, CO; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister Donna Murphy of Clare, MI; brother Ellis and Theresa Mussell of Mason, MI; brother Donald and Mary Ann Mussell of Lake, MI; brother Terry and Mary Jo Mussell of Holt, MI; and sister Sharon Brown of Eugene, OR.  Duane was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Jeff Zimmerman, sister-in-law Barb Mussell, and brother-in-law James Murphy.
