Dwight "Arnold" Yelsik, age 85, of Ashley, MI died Monday, June 18, 2012 at The Laurels of Carson City in Carson City, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. Pastor Dave Perry and Mr. Thomas Bradley will officiate. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery, North Star, MI. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Dwight was born in Saginaw, Michigan on June 11, 1927, the son of Joseph and Mary (Kopta) Yelsik. He graduated from Ashley High School with the class of 1945. Dwight married Constance (Moy) Yelsik on November 3, 1973 in Ashley, MI. Dwight served his country in the U.S. Army in WW II. He was a lifelong farmer in the Ashley area, and was a member of the ZCBJ Lodge of Bannister. Dwight recently celebrated the 100 year anniversary of the Yelsik family centennial farm. He loved to travel, play cards, polka, and watch his grandkids sporting events.
He is survived by his wife Constance Yelsik of Ashley, MI, daughter Connie and Bruce Andersen of Ashley, MI, son Charles and Jody Yelsik of Ashley, MI, daughter Mary and Harlan Bearden of Houghton Lake, MI, daughter Joyce and Jim Losen of East Lansing, MI, son Joseph and Deana Yelsik of Ashley, MI, stepchildren; James and Gail Finn of Birch Run, MI, Bonita and Charles Kebler of St. Johns, MI, Raymond and Martha Ballard of Tony, Alabama, Donna and Emerson Stockwell of St. Johns, MI, John and Ginny Ballard of St. Johns, MI, Patricia and Mervin Cotes of East Lansing, MI, Joanne and Randy Camp of OR, 32 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, sister Edith and Darrell "Mick" Aldrich of Alma, MI, brother Dale and Dana Yelsik of Ashley, MI, and aunt Vlasta Kopta of Merrill, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 granddaughters; Angie Renee Stockwell and Amanda Jo Bearden.
