Edith Champlin

Edith Mae Champlin, age 90, of Henderson, MI passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 at Ovid Healthcare Center, Ovid, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Ray Strawser officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery Henderson, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. and on Monday, July 6, 2015 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service, at the funeral home.

Edith was born in Brant, Michigan on August 3, 1924, the daughter of John and Bessie (Shuster) Lent. Edith married Clarence Champlin on February 14, 1942, in Henderson, MI. Edith enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and going to the casino. Edith loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the Red Hat Club, attending in Owosso and Chesaning.

She is survived by 2 daughers; Lucille and Clay Garrett of Owosso, MI, Carol Champlin of Henderson, MI, 2 grandchildren; Michele and Steve Basal of Marquette, MI, Craig and Linda Garrett of St. Johns, MI, 4 great grandchildren; Sascha Garrett, Robert Garrett, Craig Garrett Jr, and Lucas Basal, niece Marie VanDeusen of Ovid, MI and special neighbors; Jim and Betsy Baumgras of Henderson, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Cecil Lent and nephew Doug VanDeusen.
