Edna Alberta Jewell age 97 of McBride, Michigan died Monday, September 10, 2007 at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel St. Louis, MI on Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 11:00 AM. with burial at Ithaca Cemetery Ithaca, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 from 3-7 P.M.

Edna was born in Gratiot County, Michigan on October 12, 1909 the daughter of Charles F. and Ina M. ( Kiter ) Ries. She resided most of her life in the St. Louis area. Edna married Ray Wheeler on February 10, 1927. He died on October 20, 1962. She then married Delore Jewell on January 18, 1964. He died on May 15, 1980. She was a homemaker, and she was a Blue Star Mother. Edna and Ray enjoyed their cabin on Drummond Island. Edna liked puzzle books, and she was an avid reader. She and Delore enjoyed playing music. She also enjoyed playing cards, spending time with her grandkids & great grandkids.

She is survived by her 3 children; Carl & Mary Wheeler of McBride, MI, Charles Wheeler of Pennsylvania, Larry & Gloria Wheeler of Alma, MI, 44 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, 1 brother Marion "Bud" Ries of St. Louis, MI, and 2 sisters; Frances Irwin of Alma, MI, and Alta Mey of St. Johns, MI. She is predeceased by her parents, 2 husbands, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, 2 great grandchildren, and daughter-in-law Maryann.

Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis Chapel.
