Edna Johnson

Edna (Brandal) Johnson, of Ashley, Michigan danced through life until the age of 89 and went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2008 at her home. Funeral services will be held at the Smith Funeral Homes, Ithaca chapel on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at 11:30 A.M. Mrs. Jo Jones of the Ithaca Senior Center and Pastor Jon Pohl of Ashley United Methodist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8 P.M. and Tuesday, 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery.

Edna was born April 14, 1919 in Ashley, Michigan; the daughter of the late Dell and Fern (Seeley) Shaw. She was married to Harry Brandal and after his death she went to work at the Fortney Steak House in Ithaca. She moved her family to Ashley in November 1954 where she owned and operated the Little Star Restaurant, then she went to work for the Ithaca Hushpuppy Shoe Company. Edna was a member of the Ashley Methodist Church an active member of the Ithaca Senior Center and helped with projects to get money to build the new building. She loved people and loved to dance and she had a kind word and a smile for everyone.

She is survived by two daughters, Paulette Somers and husband Neil of Chapin, Michigan, Lana Sanders and husband Bill, of Marshall, MO, son in law, Rick Beracy, Ashley, Michigan. 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.

Edna was preceded in death by her first husband Harry Brandal in 1950, her second husband Daniel Johnson in 1987, her son Richard Brandal in 1966, and her daughter Wanda Beracy in 2007. her special friend, Lloyd Brandal in 2007
