Edna May Turner, age 94, of Owosso, MI passed away Monday, September 26, 2011 at Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility, Corunna, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Ray A. Strawser II officiating. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Owosso, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday September 30, 2011 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 P.M. & 6-8 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
Edna was born in Bancroft, Michigan on February 18, 1917, the daughter of Clarence L. and Cecil M. (Conrad) Cole. She was a graduate of Perry High School class of 1934. Edna resided most of her life in Shiawassee County. Edna married Leon Turner on December 5, 1936. Leon passed away August 31, 1984.
Edna was a member of the First Baptist Church of Owosso where she was very active. She enjoyed reading, playing Yahtzee and doing word search puzzles. In her younger years Edna was an avid gardener and did a lot of canning over the years. Edna's grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought much joy to her life.
She is survived by her son Dale and Rowena Turner of Mesa, AZ, son David Turner of Laingsburg, MI, son Gerald Turner of Perry, MI, son Richard Turner of Owosso, MI, daughter Lola Smith of Corunna, MI, son Keith and Linda Turner of Oakley, MI, 10 grandchildren; Robbin, Jeff, Kevin, Mark, Geri Sue, Richard, Patrick, Jamie, John and Matthew, 15 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren with one on the way. Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son James Turner, daughter-in-law Laura Turner, son-in-law Robert Smith, 2 grandsons; Robert and Mike, a great-granddaughter and a sister Marie Folland.
