Edward Richard "Rick" Batora Jr., age 47, of Elsie, MI died Monday, August 3, 2009 at his home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister, MI on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 10:00 A.M., Rev. Fr. Wolfgang Streichardt will officiate. Burial will follow at Ford Cemetery Gratiot County, MI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 from 6-8 P.M. and on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI. Rosary will be prayed at 6 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Rick was born in St. Johns, Michigan on September 19, 1961, the son of Edward Richard and Delores Kay (Miros) Batora. He graduated from Ovid - Elsie High School with the class of 1979. Rick married Karen Hopeann Green on August 3, 1991 at Elsie United Methodist Church. Rick was a farmer. He enjoyed his family and baking kolache. He resided most of his life in the Elsie area. He was a member of St. Cyril's Catholic Church, Bannister, MI, and Ovid-Elsie FFA Alumni.

He is survived by his wife Karen Batora of Elsie, MI, son Michael Batora of Elsie, MI, 2 daughters; Kristine Batora of Elsie, MI, Leah Batora of Elsie, MI, parents Edward and Delores Batora of Elsie, MI, 4 sisters; Theresa and Charlie Price of Elsie, MI, Brenda Batora-Hoffman of Laingsburg, MI, Michelle Batora of Elsie, MI, Cheryl and Mark McHallam of Flushing, MI, and brother Brian Batora of Bannister, MI. He was predeceased by his grandparents.
