Edward Thomas Schak, age 93, of Ovid, MI, formerly of Erie, Pennsylvania died Saturday, July 19th, 2008 at Ashley Care Center , Ashley, Michigan.
Ed was born in Erie, PA on January 1, 1915, the son Anthony Schak, Sr. and Frances (Bardun) Schak. He lived most of his life in Erie until moving to Michigan to live with his niece Shirley Pontek for 1 year, and 6 months at the Ashley Care Center.
He is survived by his niece Shirley Pontek of Ovid, Michigan, Great niece Debbie & Dennis Heinze & sons Justin and Austin Heinze of Gregory, Michigan. Great Nephew Joe Pontek Jr., and his son Kolby of Ovid, Michigan.
Ed was a Erie City Police officer of 27 years and a veteran of WW2 serving in the Military Police. He was a member of Mount Calvary Catholic Church in Erie, PA and also a member of the Erie Fraternal order of the police Lodge No #7. He enjoyed hunting, biking & cross country skiing. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Tony and Frank and a sister in law, Betty Schak.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at Mount Calvary Catholic Church in Erie Pennsylvania on Monday July 21, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. There will be a visitation 1 hr prior the services at the church. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Ashley Care Center, PO Box 127, Ashley Michigan 48806 or an organization of your choice in his memory.
