Edward Sipka

Edward “Ed” Sipka age 76, of Bannister, MI, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at the Ashley Care Center, Ashley, MI.

A Memorial Service will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI, on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Herb Wheelock officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Ed was born in Elba Township, MI on April 25, 1942 the son of John and Anna (Hudecz) Sipka.  He attended Ashley Public Schools.  On November 12, 1960 Ed married Barbara L. Morbitzer in Ithaca, MI; together they celebrated 56 years of marriage.  Ed was an accomplished carpenter, never leaving a job until he was satisfied with it.

Ed loved traveling around pitching horseshoes, winning several trophies in competition.  He enjoyed drinking beer, and playing euchre with his family and friends.  Ed was passionate at beating his grandchildren at pool.  He was the "self-appointed" Mayor of Fenmore.

Ed is survived by his wife Barbara, children: Edward (Diane) Sipka Jr. of Cedar Springs, Brenda (friend Mike Allan) Sipka of South Carolina, Rodney (Andrea) Sipka of North Carolina; and grandchildren: Chad (Nicole) Sipka, Brandon Sipka, Justin (Melissa) Hubbard, Trish (Brian) Henry, and Shawn Sipka.  He is also survived by his sisters: Joann (Larry) Beard of Ithaca and Josephine MacLennan of Fenmore.  Ed was preceded in death by his parents, brother Andrew Sipka, and 2 brother-in-laws James MacLennan and Robert MacLennan Sr.
