Edwin Charles Ching, age 81, of Owosso, MI passed away Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. Rev. Jim Eaton will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday August 26, 2011 from 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Edwin was born in Owosso, Michigan on April 21, 1930, the son of Wayne and Grace (Stewart) Ching. He resided most of his life in Owosso and was a graduate of Owosso High School. Edwin married LaVon Wells on June 21, 1959 in Owosso. She passed away on October 27, 1997. Edwin worked 19 years at Quality Motors, 24 years at Harrelson Chevrolet and 7 years at Young Olds Cadillac as a mechanic. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953. Edwin enjoyed vacationing in his motor home. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Owosso.
He is survived by 2 daughters; Cynthia and Dan Suire of Hillsdale, MI, Betty and Francis Nohel of Sanford, MI, 2 sons; Richard and Karen Runie of Wheeler, MI, Robert and Linda Runie of St. Charles, MI, 7 grandchildren; April Suire, Marcus Nohel, Scott Nohel, Lisa Sadler, Raymond Runie, Chris Runie and Michael Runie, and 11 great-grandchildren. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother Harold Ching.
