Edwin Harger

Edwin F. Harger age 93, of St. Johns, MI, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at Grace Haven Assisted Living, St. Johns, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, MI, on Friday, August 24, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Keith Whipple officiating.  Burial will take place at Eureka Cemetery, Eureka, MI.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Edwin was born in Lansing, MI on April 8, 1925, the son of Frank and May (Taylor) Harger.  Edwin married Betty Cowie on March 5, 1949 in Chicago, IL; Betty passed away on February 28, 2012.

Edwin proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He retired from Consolidated Freightways as a truck driver after many years of service. Edwin enjoyed working in his yard, going for rides, and talking with anyone he met. He liked going fishing with Frank on Friday's. He was a member of the Congregational Christian Church in Eureka.

He is survived by his daughters: Lorraine and Philip Mackie of St. Johns, MI; Beth Socia of St. Johns, MI; Barbara and Mark Turner of Brethren, MI; brother Roy and Delores Harger of Eureka, MI; and sister Imogene Beck of Eureka, MI.  He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son in law Dick Socia, and brother Vernon (Beverly) Harger.
