Edwin Stambersky age 89 of Bannister, Michigan died Sunday, May 30, 2004 at Carson City Hospital in Carson City, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel. Mr. Thomas Bradley will officiate with burial at Eureka Cemetery in Eureka, Michigan. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. & Wednesday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.
Ed was born in Ashley, Michigan on March 3, 1915 the son of Edwin & Frances ( Vanecek ) Stambersky. He graduated from Bannister High School with the class of 1928. Ed married Isabelle Wilcox, who predeceased him in 1966. On February 14, 1984 he married Jean Durocher who predeceased him on May 17, 2003. He farmed and worked for Federal Mogul in St. Johns until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of Bannister United Methodist Church. He served in WWII in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Mark Daniels VFW Post 1735 Perrinton, Michigan. He was a social member of the ZCBJ Lodge #225 in Bannister, Michigan. Ed enjoyed gardening and fishing and watching and feeding birds and wildlife. He resided most of his life in the Bannister area.
He is survived by 1 sister Mary & Ervin Hilborn of Lansing, MI, 2 brothers, Stanley & Florence Stambersky of Howell, MI, Michael & Wilma Stambersky of Bannister, MI, many nieces and nephews, 4 step-daughters, Mildred Shively of Dallas, TX, Linda & Ivan Robinson of Ithaca, MI, Vonette Dolloff of Ithaca, MI, Dayna & Alfred Page of Ithaca, MI, 1 step-son James Rooksberry of Roanoke, VA, many step-grandchildren and his dog and beloved companion Sparky. He is predeceased by his parents and 7 brothers.
Memorial may be made to ZCBJ Lodge #225, Bannister, MI. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel.
