Elaine Flegel

Elaine Joy Flegel age 81, of Alma, MI, passed away surrounded by her family, on Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Schnepp Health Care Center, St. Louis, MI.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Louis Church of Christ, St. Louis, MI, at a later date, an announcement will follow in the local newspaper.  Burial will take place at Ithaca Cemetery, Ithaca, MI.

Joy was born in Alma, MI on November 24, 1936 the daughter of Leonard John and Cornelia (Van Beelen) Mailand.  Joy graduated from Alma High School with the class of 1954.  She married Walter Dale Flegel in 1956; Walter passed away in 1993.

Joy loved her children and grandchildren very much, anytime spent with family was special to her.  Joy was an assembler in the auto industry most of her life. She enjoyed taking trips with the St. Louis Senior Center and being on the go. She liked reading and cooking for her family and friends. She was a member of the Church of Christ, St. Louis, MI.

She is survived by her sons: Dale and Kathy Flegel of Charlotte, MI; Ralph Flegel of NC; Richard and Janet Flegel of Elwell, MI; son in law Gary and Dawn(deceased) McDonald of Ithaca, MI; 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Dawn, 9 brothers and sisters.
