Elias Garza

Elias Pedro "Pete" Garza, age 72, of St. Louis, MI, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 12, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, with Deacon Rick Warner officiating.  Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Alma, MI. Visitation will be held 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the funeral home.

Pete was born in LaVilla, TX on January 29, 1949, the son of Elias J. and Maria (Cruz) Garza.  He lived most of his life in the St. Louis area.

Pete was a hard worker.  He enjoyed dancing and listening to music.  He liked to travel and having cookouts.  He enjoyed driving and was very meticulous about the condition of his vehicles.  He liked to play cards, go to the casino and scratch his daily lotto tickets.  Pete loved his family and loved to spend time with them.

Pete is survived by his sons: Elias Pedro Garza, Jr. of St. Louis, MI; and David Garza (Dalis Hitchcock) of St. Louis, MI; 4 grandchildren: David Garza II, Jurnie Havens, Alexander Garza, and Modestie Hitchcock.  He is also survived by the mother of his sons Diana Garza (Jose Gonzalez), 7 siblings: Adan Garza, Ramiro Garza, Roel Garza, Eugenia Almaraz, Alicia Cavazos,  Belia Garza, and Rosemary Guzman; and 33 nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother Mario Cruz Garza, and 2 sisters: Olivia Garza and Angelita Garza.
