Elizabeth Mae Baker, age 59, of Lansing, Michigan, died Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Caretel Inns of Linden, Linden, MI.
A Memorial Service to honor her life will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie, MI, on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11 A.M. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 to 11 A.M.
Elizabeth was born in St. Johns, Michigan on July 6, 1953, the daughter of Robert Thurman and Leona Mae (Williams) Baker. She graduated from Ovid - Elsie High School with the class of 1971, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree and Master of Science Degree in General Administration from Central Michigan University. She grew up in Elsie and subsequently moved to Lansing for a 40 year career with the State of Michigan where friends and colleagues knew her as Liz. At the time of her death, she was an Information Technology Manager for the State of Michigan's Department of Information Technology. Elizabeth enjoyed and performed classical music, genealogy and photography. She was a member of the University United Methodist Church, the Order of Eastern Stars, the Capitol Area Women's Network and the MSU Choral Society. Elizabeth was an artist's manager and personal representative for John Kevin Hilbert, a musical composer formerly of Lansing, MI.
Betsy, as she was fondly known by her family, is survived by 2 sisters; Gwendolyn (James) Graham and Roberta Baker, 3 brothers; William (Barbara) Baker, James (Sara) Baker, John (Ena) Baker, sister in law Sylvia Baker and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brothers; Richard and Paul, brother-in-law Mark A. O'Donnell, and nephews; Mark Edward O'Donnell and Timothy Baker.
