Elmer Mead

Elmer Joseph "Bud" Mead Jr., age 69, of Bath, MI passed away Friday, May 6, 2011 at Sparrow Health Systems Lansing, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel Elsie, MI on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Bob Prange will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday May 8, 2011 from 6-8 PM and Monday, May 9, 2011 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.

Elmer was born in Owosso, Michigan on August 29, 1941, the son of Elmer V. and Pauline (Kusnier) Mead. He resided most of his life in the Elsie area.

Bud enjoyed working on many things, especially automobiles. He retired from Michigan State University, working in the Maintenance Department. Bud also enjoyed fishing and loved his dogs and cats. His grandchildren were a very important part of his life. His favorite pastime was drinking Diet Coke, eating Snickers and watching his favorite television shows.

He is survived by his son Stephen and Antonie Mead of Ovid, MI, daughter Shauna Nelson of Bath, MI, grandchildren; Michael (Shawna) Mead, Kelli (Eric) Marshall, Mindy (Glenn Krugler) Mead, Stephanie Holton, AJ (Tina) Mead, Randy Nelson, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers; Ron Mead of Bannister, MI, David Mead of Bannister, MI and nephew Matt Mead. Bud was preceded in death by his parents and son Scott N. Mead.
