Elmer Thornton

Elmer C. Thornton, age 95, of Elsie, Michigan died Sunday, March 21st, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie Chapel on Tuesday, March 23rd at 11:00 A.M. , Mr. Joseph Coblentz will officiate. Burial will take place at Duplain Township Cemetery, Rochester Colony, Michigan

Visitation will be held on Monday 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M.. and on Tuesday 10 am until time of the services at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Elsie chapel.

Elmer was born in Elsie, Michigan on October 12, 1914, the son Theodore and Della (Shin) Thornton. On June 25, 1936 Elmer married Wava Merrill Potter at Duplain Church of Christ, Wava died on July 28, 1996 after 60 years of marriage. He was a farmer and enjoyed farming, and caring & working his Pecherons Horses. Elmer resided all of his life in the Elsie area.

Survivors include his 4 daughters, Sharlyn and Henry Howard of Ovid, MI.
Bonnie and Bradley Grenlund of Higgins Lake, MI., Karen Schaefer of Elsie, MI.
Janice and Lonnie McCullough of Elsie, MI; 8 Grandchildren 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter, his sister Mary and Russ Libey of Mesa, AZ.

He was predeceased by his parents, wife, 2 sons, Gary & Dennis, 1 grandson, Curtis, 1 sister, 6 brothers, Memorials may be made to W.O.E.S. Radio Station.
