Emilie Katherine VanStrate age 78 of Owosso, MI died Friday, August 31, 2007 at Ovid Healthcare Center, Ovid, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel Owosso, MI on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 11:00 AM. Deacon Gary Edington will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 7, 2007 from 4-8 P.M.

Emilie was born in Tracey, Montana on July 16, 1929 the daughter of Peter and Anna ( Bernardi-Gisla ) Chiotti. She resided most of her life in the Owosso area. She attended schools in Montana. Emilie was a dispatcher for the City of Owosso. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, watching old movies, especially AMC, reading, listening to music, polkas, she was a Kenny Rogers fan, and she liked going for rides in the car.

She is survived by her children; Dean Spencer of Flushing, MI, Kim Bancroft of St. Johns, MI, Darrell & Maureen Spencer of Owosso, MI, Wade & Sue Spencer of Wisconsin, Merrill W. Spencer of Owosso, MI, Les Spencer of Marion, MI, Tammy Friess of Flint, MI, Michael VanStrate & fiancee Angela Rieth of Owosso, MI, 27 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, grandson Michael John Spencer, and siblings, Lucy Lissolo, Anni Berti, James Chiotti, & Edward Chiotti.

Memorials may be made to the wishes of the family. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso, MI.
