Emily Clara Jones Davis, aged 104, died Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Grace Haven Assisted Living, Saint. Johns, Michigan.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lowe United Methodist Church, 5485 W. Lowe Road, Saint Johns, MI 48879, at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Elsie, Michigan at a later date.
Emily was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 4, 1920, the only child of Fred and Dora (Haselhuhn) Jones. Emily graduated from Elsie High School along with her 28 classmates and future husband (Roy C.) in the class of 1938. She later attended Cleary College in Detroit, MI. On January 4, 1943, she married Roy C. Davis of Elsie and Houghton Lake in Detroit, Michigan. She resided most of her life in Saint Johns, Michigan.
Roy and Emily built a home north of Saint Johns. They enjoyed trips with their antique vehicles and with the Twelfth Armored Division (Hellcats). They loved to dance, skate, swim and all kinds of music. Emily was instrumental in seeing that all four children learned to play the piano and a musical instrument plus graduating from college. The entire family was active with Greenbush and Lowe United Methodist Churches.
Emily was a homemaker and 4-H Leader for 15 years as well as serving on the Clinton County Board of Canvassers and Jury Board representing the Democratic Party. She was a past Worthy Matron for the Order of Eastern Star in Saint Johns, MI. Emily was a bookkeeper for Roy’s drainage contracting business. She has traced her family lineage back to the Daughters of the American Revolution. After Emily turned 102, she became part of the Centenarian Project through the University of Boston in Massachusetts.
Survivors include: daughter Holly (Ron) Phinney of Saint Johns, MI; son Alan (Bev) Davis of Saint Johns, MI; daughter Delia (Al) Anderson of Portales, NM; and daughter Lisa Thurston of Ovid, MI; 10 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and husband Roy on July 14, 2011.
