Emma Roberts

Emma Jeanette Roberts, 79, of Ithaca, MI, peacefully passed away with her family by her side Thursday, February 27, 2020, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center - Gratiot, Alma.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, MI, on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Dave Shephard officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 P.M. prior to the service.

Emma was born in Mason, MI on September 19, 1940, the daughter of Joseph Vernon and Ethel Marie (Blakney) Burns. She attended Mason Public Schools.

Emma liked playing bingo and cards. She really enjoyed her trips to the casino and her scratch off tickets. She especially loved her dog Toby. Her family has fond memories of her baking and cooking. Emma loved to call her daughter often every day! Emma loved the Lord and her roots in the old time Southern Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed her time at Thrive Church recently with her family.

One of the highlights for Emma of these last months has been the special visits from her nieces, nephews and the friends she made through the PACE program of Mt. Pleasant.

Emma is survived by her "Pride and Joy" Toby, daughter Dolores Pruitt of Lansing, and son DeTroy (Heather) Pruitt of Portland, TN. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: John (Jackie) Ney, Nicholas (Billi) Ney, Misty Pruitt, Emmi (Jeffrey) Lee, Karelyn (Matthew) McClearen, Jessica (Randall) Brown, and Michael Pruitt; 19 great-grandchildren: Mikayla, Carter, Addyson, Nasher, Alixandria, MacKenzie, Blake, Brant "Brent", Taylor, Gracie, Kaitlyn, Sarah, John, Abraham, Hosea, Hadassah, Ezekiel, Analynn, and Daniel; 3 brothers: Vernon (Jean) Burns, Gerald Burns and Douglas (Shirley) Burns; and many nieces and nephews.  Emma is preceded in death by her parents, 4 husbands, 3 sisters: Pat Donley, Ann Peterson, and Jan Foreman; and infant granddaughter Bonnie Pruitt.
