EmmaLee "Tommie" Rayburn age 79 of Ithaca, Michigan died Friday, July 16, 2004 at Gratiot Community Hospital in Alma, Michigan.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 19, 2004 at 3:00 P.M. at Ithaca First Presbyterian Church. Pastor Michael Loenshal will officiate with burial at Ithaca Cemetery in Ithaca, Michigan. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 17, 2004 6-8 P.M. and Sunday, July 18, 2004 2-8 P.M. with family present 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
EmmaLee was born on May 21, 1925 in Sumner, Michigan the daughter of William Henry & Lena Cary ( Johnson ) Thompson. She graduated from Alma High School with the class of 1943. She then graduated from Central Michigan College with a Bachelors Degree in Education. She married Thayer K. Rayburn "Gus" on July 20, 1952 at the Alma United Methodist Church. EmmaLee was a kindergarten teacher for Ithaca Schools for 30 years. She loved music and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She and her husband enjoyed fishing together. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ithaca, Michigan. She was also a member of the Gay Nighters Dance Club, Ithaca Child Study club and several bridge clubs. She resided most of her life in Ithaca, Michigan.
She is survived by 2 sons, David & Kris Rayburn of Ithaca, MI, Jeff & Cathy Rayburn of Ithaca, MI, 5 grandchildren; Josh, Ben, Erica, Jon, and Luke Rayburn, 1 sister Betty & George Betker of Northport, MI, 1 brother Bob Thompson of Sumner, MI, and 1 sister-in-law Willow Ann Selden of Sturgis, MI. She is predeceased by her parents and her husband.
Memorials may be made to Ithaca Food For Friends. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
