Eric Long

Eric William Long, age 55, of Bannister, MI passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie, MI on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Kathy Leydorf-Keck officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 25, 2013 from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Eric was born in St. Johns, Michigan on July 28, 1957, the son of Gerald Ray and Lillian Louise (Palek) Long. Eric resided most of his life in Bannister, MI. He graduated from Ashley High School with the class of 1975. Eric retired from GM after 30 years of service. He loved hunting and fishing. Eric spent countless hours with his uncle Jerry at the farm. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and his drinking buddies.

He is survived by his daughter Chelsie Long of Bannister, MI, son Zachary Long of Eureka, MI, grandchildren Bailey & William Long, sisters Debra Crumbaugh and Terri and Brian Tomasek, parents Gerald and Lillian Long and his dog Lucy. He is also survived by several other family members and friends. Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents; William Palek, Anna Turner and Ralph and Leota Long.
