Eugene Oberlander Sr.

Eugene C. Oberlander, Sr., age 74 of Sears, Michigan formerly of Ashley, Michigan passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca, Michigan at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 28, 2017.  Visitation will be on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.  Burial will take place at North Star Cemetery in North Star, Michigan.

Eugene was born in Owosso, Michigan on November 25, 1942, the son of Cleo A. and Beatrice Elizabeth (Drummond) Oberlander. He graduated from Ashley High School with the class of 1961. Gene was a dedicated salesman at Saylor Beall in St. Johns, Michigan for 50 years. Gene's family was very important to him and he loved spending time with them. He also loved to sing and enjoyed playing putt putt golfing, watching sporting events and western movies. He was slow to anger and never complained (unless if the Detroit Lions or Michigan Wolverines lost). Gene made everyone feel welcome in his presence; he was a supportive father and uncle. He loved to laugh and gave good honest advice.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughter Wendy Jo Klein of Beaverton, MI; 3 sons Gene and Diana Oberlander of Bella Vista, AR; Matt and Kristy Oberlander of Fairburn GA; Andy and Amanda Oberlander of Grand Haven, MI; his children's mother, Sharon Oberlander of Sears, MI; 14 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 2 nieces.  He was predeceased by his parents, 1 son Rodney, and 2 sisters La Vera and Dorothy.
