Evelyn M.(Berryo) Ackley, age 88, of Alma, MI died Monday, May 11, 2009 at Masonic Pathways in Alma, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes St. Louis Chapel on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Terri Bentley officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Louis, MI. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 two hours prior to the service from 11AM-1PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Evelyn was born in Gratiot County, Michigan on January 23, 1921, the daughter of Rahom J. and Vera (Foster) Berryo. She graduated from St. Louis High School with the class of 1939, and was a lifelong resident of Gratiot County. She loved bird watching, and cats. Evelyn also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching game shows. She retired from Gratiot Community Hospital in 1982.

She is survived by her 3 daughters; Sheila K. and Lorenzo Nino of Waco, TX, Connie L. Ackley and Johnny Hernandez of Alma, MI, Carole E. and Rey Castellon of Alma, MI, 4 grandchildren; Laurence Nino of Waco, TX, Reynaldo Castellon of Alma, MI, Desirae Castellon of Alma, MI, Dana Ackley-Hernandez of Alma, MI, sister Leonteen and Orel Holton, sister Mary Watson, sister Catherine Hagerman, brother Dr. Jim and Katherine Berryo, and sister Sharon and Melvin Beebe. She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister Ruth, and 2 brothers; William & Charles.
