Faye Naomi Koerner, age 91, of Owosso, MI passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, MI.
Funeral Services will be held at Owosso First Free Methodist Church on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at 4:00 P.M., Pastor Burton Kincaid and Pastor Mark Kincaid will officiate. Burial will follow at Lovejoy Cemetery, Vernon Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 2-8 PM with family present 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Smith Family Funeral Homes Jennings-Lyons Chapel, Owosso.
Faye was born in West Branch, Michigan on December 4, 1918, the daughter of Rev. R.E. and Beatrice (Welch) Smith. Faye married Paul D. Koerner at her parent's home on December 24, 1937. They were married 52 years before he passed away on August 3, 1989. Faye resided most of her life in the Owosso area and was a graduate of Michigan State University.
Faye taught school in Shiawassee County for 30 years, the last 24 years in the Corunna Public Schools. She was a member of the Owosso First Free Methodist Church where she was an organist for many years and taught Sunday school. Being with her family was the most important part of Faye's life. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting and playing games.
She is survived by her 2 sons: Duane and Sharon Koerner of Saranac, MI, Dean and Madelyn Koerner of Corunna, MI; daughter-in-law Kathy Koerner of Haslett, MI, grandchildren; Robert and Cindy Koerner, Scott and Kelly Koerner, Mark and Katt Koerner, Sherri and Brent St. Clair, Michelle and Charlie Hubbert, Elizabeth Koerner, Tammy Koerner; great-grandchildren; Kyle Koerner, Gabriella St. Clair, Courtney Hubbert, Robert Hubbert, Jake Koerner, Cole Koerner, Kaitlyn Koerner, and Zachary Koerner. Faye was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Raymond Koerner, 2 sisters; Bina Snider and Ruth Smith also Alston Smith and Beatrice Smith in childhood.
